It was released under the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery name, although by this time, all production—including distillation, aging, and bottling—was handled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This transition followed the 2002 joint venture between the Van Winkle family and the Sazerac Company. The bourbon is a wheated recipe, aged for 10 years, and does not contain Stitzel-Weller distillate.
