Lopez de Heredia Vina Gravonia Crianza Blanco 2017

Lopez de Heredia Vina Gravonia Crianza 2017

The 2017 López de Heredia Viña Gravonia Crianza Blanco is an exceptional, traditionally crafted dry white wine from the Rioja Alta region of Spain. Produced by the legendary and historic Bodegas R. López de Heredia in Haro, this wine is made entirely from 100% Viura (also known as Macabeo) grapes sourced from their 93-year-old vines in the Viña Zaconia vineyard. Despite being classified under Rioja's regulations as a "Crianza," its intensive, four-year wood aging and extended bottle maturation far exceed the legal requirements, rivaling the complexity of a Gran Reserva at a fraction of the price.

  • Fermentation: Grapes were hand-harvested on September 14, 2017, and fermented using natural, indigenous yeasts in the winery’s ancient, large oak vats.
  • Aging: The wine was aged for 4 years in used American oak barrels—handcrafted in the winery's own cooperage—and racked twice a year. It was clarified using fresh egg whites and bottled unfiltered.
